License = I have purchased an individual license and the license has been assigned to my FlowJo Portal account
Seat = I have been invited to join a FlowJo Portal Group License and I am an active user on the group license, so I can access FlowJo with my FlowJo Portal account.

Important Information
Each user who creates a FlowJo Portal account will have their own username/password based credentials to login to our FlowJo and SeqGeq desktop applications. If a user has an active license, trial or release(paid), they will be able to sign in to FlowJo and/or SeqGeq with their FlowJo Portal credentials.
Each user based account will be able to sign in to FlowJo and/or SeqGeq on up to 4 computers of the users’ choosing, one computer at a time. It is against our EULA for users to share accounts and users will only be able to replace 4 of their computers that have access to FlowJo and/or SeqGeq annually.
FlowJo Portal accounts are user specific and free to create. Accounts are created by visiting cloud.flowjo.com. If a user would like to access FlowJo with their FlowJo Portal account, they will need to pay for an individual license, be assigned a seat on a FlowJo Portal Group License by an admin or be given access to a Shared Computer seat on a FlowJo Portal Group License.
In order to access FlowJo Portal and our desktop applications with your FlowJo Portal account, it is imperative that our applications can authorize licensing through our AWS server. This requires that FlowJo and/or SeqGeq can talk to FlowJo Portal (cloud.flowjo.com). To clarify, this means that the new FlowJo Portal licensing system authorizes FlowJo over SSL and the application requires the SSL cert from our certificate authority. Some high security networks are setup to replace SSL certs with internal certs. If this is the case, FlowJo will not authenticate properly. To resolve this, change the network security settings to allow FlowJo and/or SeqGeq to pass SSL certs to the application. Please see the respective URLs and instructions included in our Trouble with Sign-in documentation page for more information.
