What is FlowJo Portal?
FlowJo Portal is our user-based licensing system for FlowJo™ Software, SeqGeq™ Software, and BD® Research Cloud solutions. Find out more here.
Why do I need a Customer Order Center Account and a FlowJo Portal Account?
The Customer Order Center is for managing purchasing and FlowJo Portal is for managing your FlowJo Portal licensing. Our goal in the future is to combine these systems into a SSO experience.
Will my license be automatically renewed?
No, annual FlowJo Portal licenses will expire if they are not renewed. We do not currently renew licenses automatically. To renew your license, you will need to request a renewal quote through the Customer Order Center or by contacting flowjooffice@bd.com.
Do I need to create a FlowJo Portal account prior to my annual license being activated in association with my FlowJo Portal account?
Yes. FlowJo Portal license customers need to first create a FlowJo Portal account by visiting cloud.flowjo.com and verifying their email address, prior to submitting their FlowJo Portal email address for license activation. This process ensures that FlowJo Portal activates the annual license for the correct FlowJo Portal account.
What if I am the purchaser, but not the end user of the software?
Individual FlowJo Portal License (1, 2, 3 or 4 licenses)
The purchasing process through our Customer Order Center will provide the purchaser with a field for submitting the end user’s email address so that the end user receives an email with instructions for license activation.
Group FlowJo Portal License (5+ licenses)
FlowJo Portal Group Licenses are not currently activated or renewed automatically. For license activation or renewal, flowjooffice@bd.com needs to receive the admin’s email address to activate or renew the group license. This email address can be submitted manually via email, or through our ordering process in the Customer Order Center.
When will I get access to my new annual license and be able to login to the software?
The end user will be able to login to the software after the license has been activated for the established user’s FlowJo Portal account. The end user will receive a confirmation email once the license has been activated or renewed.
How many computers can I run the software on using my FlowJo Portal account/license?
FlowJo and/or SeqGeq
Each individual user or group license seat holder may utilize the software on up to four different computers (authorized devices), one at time, with their unique login.
Per our EULA, licenses are not to be shared. This is intended to offer flexibility for the user. Each computer may be changed once throughout the term. To manage authorized devices, please find helpful information here.
BD Research Cloud
Each end user can sign in to BD RC on as many computers as they would like, one computer at a time.
How does a FlowJo Portal Group License Work?
- FlowJo Portal Group License enables an internal customer administrator with Admin Tools to manage a group of users. For more information, click the Admin Overview link below.

- Only primary admins receive correspondence from FlowJo, including renewal reminders 30 days prior to expiration.
- Admins can be, but do not have to be, users themselves. If they wish to be, an invitation must be sent like other users.
- Co-admins may be added by sending us a request once the person has created a Portal account. No limit on number of co-admins.
- Should you need to invite users with an email suffix different than the email suffix of the primary admin, please reach out and we will get the new email suffix added to the approved list.

Does FlowJo still sell dongle USB licensing for the FlowJo software?
Yes, dongles can be purchased via your Customer Order Center. They are a different license type than FlowJo Portal. You do not need own a FlowJo Portal license and a Dongle USB license to access FlowJo – one or the other will provide access.
Dongles are not available for SeqGeq or BD Research Cloud.

Can I still purchase a Serial Number-based license?
Yes, FlowJo still sells 1-YR Offline Serial Number based licensing. Purchasing this type of license must be done through flowjooffice@bd.com and is not available as a licensing option in the Customer Order Center.
1-YR Offline Serial Number-based licensing is not available for SeqGeq or BD Research Cloud.
Can I purchase a multi-year FlowJo Portal license?
Yes, customers can purchase a 2- or 3-year multi-year license. Multi-year license purchases need to be processed by our sales team. We do not offer multi-year license discounts. Please contact flowjooffice@bd.com for more information about multi-year licensing.
Why don’t I see a license to Activate in my Customer Order Center Account?
Are you paying by Purchase Order or did you request to pay by Wire Transfer or Check? If so, FlowJo will need to process the order and send you an invoice prior to the License Activation being available in your Customer Order Center Account.
If you are paying by Credit Card, you will see that License Activation is available after your transaction is successfully processed.
